Somatic counseling is designed to give participants practical tools to deepen their stewardship of their emotional and mental well-being.
Somatic counseling is a deep look at how the stories of our conscious and subconscious mind play out in the gestures and habits of our physical movements and posture. What does the body say when in different interpersonal, professional and leisure activities? How does it shift as new circumstances arise? What does it say during periods of depression, anxiety and moments of ease? In this question lays profound opportunity for deep personal and societal development. This work is about addressing the unsupportive, habitual, subconscious gestures and movements that give rise to pain and disorder. We work together to 'invert the hurt', to build new awareness around what is unsupportive in our movements and build a practice to cultivate clear, easeful thinking, rhythmic warmth in our emotional lives, and potency of our will forces. The story is honored and serves a meeting place, a beginning for becoming a more conscious steward of our human experience.

The Body as the Narrative:
Each of us are a living tale, a body story of physical, emotional, intellectual, and for some, spiritual experiences. Aspects of this story are shared globally in the primal experience of living in a physical body. Over 7 billion stories are being lived day in and day out, this is the foundational commonality of the human experience and no two stories are identical. Some of the story of bodily experience is rooted in primal laws of anatomy and physiology, as well as forces like gravity and levity, light and darkness. The variables for the deeply personal aspect of the human body experience that make each individual journey unique lays in two realms; one can be considered a reality, the other has mythic qualities, both have a deep impact on our experience of self, others and the world.
"In Reality": The context of our past is rooted in physical reality, the facts comprising the events that shaped our development. Herein lies the environment and relationships that created the lens of our human experience, our way of relating and being in the world. The traumas, victories, the ecstasies' and torments, the betrayals and supportive bonds of loving relationship all have shaped us in one, more, or myriad ways. It has also been mentioned in esoteric traditions that even the development of our internal organs were in part shaped by the events happening around and to us. What we experience as a reality also keeps time in that it happened in the linear past, it cannot be undone. What can be undone is to integrate the reflexive neuro-physiological reactions of the physical body. We can seek repair by relating to an ideal that is emergent in the immediate present. Life is movement, we serve ourselves and those around us by learning to think and feel in new ways by inhabiting the body and moving in new ways.
